i was driving back from class the other night on the same windy road i’ve driven down, probably three hundred and five times now. i anticipated the stop signs, the turns, the speed limits, but as i got to the top of one slope, i noticed for the first time some blinking lights in the distance. they were traffic lights from an intersection near my house two miles down the road. it was so odd, to see that intersection from far away and from a different direction, instead of how i’ve always seen it, from a distance of two, or five, or ten cars away. before, i always felt it to be in a different direction than what i saw from the top of that hill, when it was laid out plainly in front of me.
it’s like, that new perspective on reality you get when you realize your neighborhood’s entrance is to the the north of your house, when you always pictured it in your mind to be to the left.
as i ponder these days my future, career spouse location life, i’d like to think i know how it’s going to turn out, or at least be prepared for what it’ll be like, or at least try to usher it one way or another, but in reality, i have no idea.
where where you five years ago?
where did you want to be two years ago?
where are you now?
with whom are you with, now?
Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means. —Robert Louis Stevenson

I don’t know about you but I’m freakin in love with this idea, brilliant stuff, I have a box full of these jars and they are begging for this attachment.
A whole series of shakers, pour spouts and snap on lids would be such a great extension of this idea.
